The problem it actually solves

Every large countertop oven creates the same problem: it eats a permanent square of counter, and putting it away means unplugging and lifting a twenty-pound box into a cupboard, which nobody does. The SP101's answer is a hinge. When you are done, it flips vertically and sits flat against the backsplash, reclaiming the counter without a lift. Full power, not a small-oven compromise

It states a capacity of a 13-inch pizza or nine slices of toast in its listing copy — a claim specific enough to measure against your own baking sheet — across eight functions. The trade you are actually making is geometry, not heat: a shallow single cooking level rather than the two levels of a bigger Ninja.

Who should skip it

Anyone with the counter space to leave an oven out permanently. If it never folds, you have paid for a mechanism you will not use, and the Ninja DT201gives you two cooking levels for less. The SP101 is for the kitchen where the counter has to be clear between meals — a galley, an apartment, a shared space — and there it is close to unique.
