The Best Air Fryer Toaster Ovens

One box that toasts, bakes and air-fries. We ranked eight of them on the four things manufacturers actually publish — power, interior, footprint and documentation — and left the crisping verdicts to people who cook for a living.

#ad · Prices pulled live from the Amazon Product API, last checked Jul 20, 2026. Where we have no verified live price we show none — we would rather leave a gap than print a number that has gone stale. The wattage column is what the manufacturer publishes; “not published” means exactly that, and we have not estimated one. Scores are ours, compiled from published specifications, and are not test results.

How this ranking is built

The order here is not a taste test. We have not cooked in these ovens — there is no test kitchen behind this site — so the ranking is built from what the manufacturers publish and what the physics guarantees. Every oven above 1,100 watts and every oven from a brand that tells you its wattage scores higher than an equivalent one that does not, because on this site being able to check a number is itself worth points.

The single most important thing to carry into this list: every full-size oven here draws the same 1,800 watts, because that is the ceiling of a standard 15-amp US kitchen circuit. The Breville at the top and the Cuisinart in the middle cost the same to run. What separates them is interior room, how independently the elements are driven, how deep the box is, and whether the brand will tell you any of that. The running-cost arithmetic is here, and it is the same for all of them.

Who each pick is for

The Breville Smart Oven Air Fryer Pro wins outright on one axis that matters more here than anywhere else: it is the only oven at any price whose manufacturer publishes a rated wattage, an interior volume and a full element layout in the same place. You pay roughly four times the category floor for that, and it is the right buy only if you will keep it a decade.

The Ninja DT201is the value pick and it is not close: the same 1,800 watts, two genuine cooking levels, and a checkable capacity claim at a fraction of the Breville's price. If counter space is not your binding constraint, this is the oven most people should buy. The Breville BOV860is the Pro's electronics in a smaller, more counter-friendly box for less money.

Below those, the list shades toward specific needs: the Instant Omni Plus for a published interior in liters and a rotisserie, the Ninja SP101 for a small kitchen that refuses to give up power, and the two budget picks for households who have correctly worked out that a toaster oven with a fan is most of what air frying is.

What we did not rank on

Toast evenness, crisping, how the fries came out. Those are real and they matter, and they are exactly what a hands-on reviewer with the oven on their bench should tell you. What we can tell you — and what most of those reviews skip — is which oven has more usable interior per dollar, which publishes a temperature range, which is deep enough to be a problem on a 24-inch counter, and which brand will not tell you what its oven draws. Read this list for those decisions; read a hands-on review for the browning.

Breville Breville Smart Oven Air Fryer Pro (BOV900BSS)

The one to buy if you will keep it a decade

Breville Smart Oven Air Fryer Pro (BOV900BSS)

Wattage published in the manualWidest footprint here
8.5/10

The most completely documented oven in the category, and the only one at any price whose manufacturer publishes a rated wattage, an interior volume and a full element layout in the same place. You pay roughly four times the category floor for that, and about a third of the premium is the documentation itself.

Power

Usable space
9.5
Footprint

Documentation
10
Value
7.5

What it gets right

  • Breville publishes the rated wattage, the interior volume, the exterior dimensions and the element count — almost nobody else in this category publishes all four
  • 1 cubic foot of interior is genuinely a small oven, not a large toaster: a 14-inch pizza or a 9x13 pan fits without diagonal gymnastics
  • Element IQ drives the six elements independently rather than switching them in banks, which is the actual mechanical difference behind the price

What it doesn't

  • 21.4 inches wide is wider than most upper-cabinet clearances allow you to slide it under
  • At the current price it costs more than several full-size wall ovens' worth of countertop convection you could assemble from cheaper parts
  • Thirteen functions is nine more than most households use; the presets are the same elements at different set points

What it costs to run

About 33.9¢ an hour at full draw, or $61.86 a year at 30 minutes a day, 365 days a year and 18.83¢ per kWh.

1,800 W ÷ 1000 × 182.5 h × 18.83¢ = $61.86

1800 W is the rating plate figure in Breville's own instruction book, not a marketing headline. This is an upper bound: the elements cycle off once the cavity is at temperature, and no manufacturer publishes a duty cycle, so we compute at full rated draw rather than invent a correction factor. The full method is published.

Skip this if…

your counter is under 24 inches deep with the backsplash, or you are buying an oven mainly to make toast and reheat pizza — nothing about this machine's price is recovered on those two jobs.

Most usable interior per dollar

Ninja Foodi 10-in-1 XL Pro Air Fry Oven (DT201)

Two cooking levelsLarge external footprint
8.1/10

The value pick, and it is not close. Same 1,800 W as ovens costing two and a half times more, two full cooking levels, and a published capacity claim — two 12-inch pizzas — that is specific enough to be checkable rather than a vibe.

What it gets right

  • Identical 1,800 W draw to the Breville Pro at a fraction of the price — on running cost alone they are the same oven
  • Two genuine cooking levels rather than one shelf and an optimistic second slot
  • The capacity claim is stated as objects that fit, which you can measure against your own baking sheet

What it doesn't

  • SharkNinja publishes no interior volume in cubic feet or liters, so cross-brand space comparison is guesswork
  • The external footprint is large enough that it stops being a countertop appliance and starts being furniture
  • Ten functions on a dial that mostly changes fan speed and set point

What it costs to run

About 33.9¢ an hour at full draw, or $61.86 a year at 30 minutes a day, 365 days a year and 18.83¢ per kWh.

1,800 W ÷ 1000 × 182.5 h × 18.83¢ = $61.86

1800 W as published by SharkNinja on the DT201 product page and repeated in the brand's own retail listings. This is an upper bound: the elements cycle off once the cavity is at temperature, and no manufacturer publishes a duty cycle, so we compute at full rated draw rather than invent a correction factor. The full method is published.

The Pro's electronics in a chassis two and a half inches narrower, at meaningfully less money. Same 1,800 W rating plate, same published-spec discipline, two fewer functions and a noticeably more realistic footprint for a normal kitchen.

What it gets right

  • Identical 1,800 W rating to the Pro, so the running cost is identical — you are not buying efficiency by spending more
  • 18.9 inches wide clears the depth problem that makes the Pro awkward on a standard 24-inch counter
  • Breville publishes an instruction book with a real rating plate reproduction, which is rarer in this category than it should be

What it doesn't

  • Breville's own product page quotes a relative claim — 'up to 35% less power compared to a built-in oven' — and no absolute wattage; you have to open the manual to find the number
  • No interior volume is published for this model, so you cannot compare its usable space to the Pro's 1 cubic foot on paper
  • Still several times the price of an oven that toasts and bakes to the same temperatures

What it costs to run

About 33.9¢ an hour at full draw, or $61.86 a year at 30 minutes a day, 365 days a year and 18.83¢ per kWh.

1,800 W ÷ 1000 × 182.5 h × 18.83¢ = $61.86

120 V ~ 60 Hz 1800 W is the rating plate line reproduced in Breville's instruction book for all BOV860 models. This is an upper bound: the elements cycle off once the cavity is at temperature, and no manufacturer publishes a duty cycle, so we compute at full rated draw rather than invent a correction factor. The full method is published.

Cuisinart Air Fryer Toaster Oven, 8-in-1 (TOA-70)

No manufacturer spec page found
7.3/10

A competent 1,800 W convection oven with a dial-and-display interface and no particular ambition, at a price that sits exactly between the budget tier and the Brevilles. Nothing here is remarkable, which for a countertop oven is closer to a compliment than it sounds.

Power
9.5

Footprint
7.5
Documentation
4
Value
8

What it gets right

  • 1,800 W puts it on level terms with ovens costing twice as much for anything time-based
  • Physical controls rather than a capacitive panel, which is the part of a countertop oven most likely to fail first
  • Sits in the price band where the marginal dollar still buys interior room rather than presets

What it doesn't

  • Cuisinart publishes no spec page for this model — the wattage comes from listing copy, not a manual
  • No published interior volume or temperature range
  • Eight functions, several of which are the same heat profile relabeled

What it costs to run

About 33.9¢ an hour at full draw, or $61.86 a year at 30 minutes a day, 365 days a year and 18.83¢ per kWh.

1,800 W ÷ 1000 × 182.5 h × 18.83¢ = $61.86

1800 W as stated in Cuisinart's own listing copy. Cuisinart does not publish a spec sheet for this model on its own site, so this figure is brand-supplied rather than manual-verified. This is an upper bound: the elements cycle off once the cavity is at temperature, and no manufacturer publishes a duty cycle, so we compute at full rated draw rather than invent a correction factor. The full method is published.

What it gets right

  • 18 liters stated plainly, so you can compare it to a Breville's cubic foot without converting a marketing claim
  • A published temperature range, which is rarer than it should be and matters if you proof dough
  • The rotisserie spit is real hardware, not a preset

What it doesn't

  • Instant Brands publishes no wattage on the product page, so this oven gets no running-cost figure from us
  • 450°F is a low ceiling — several ovens here reach 500°F, which matters for pizza and for a hard finish on roast vegetables
  • Rotisserie is the kind of feature that gets used twice

What it costs to run

Instant Brands publishes no wattage for this oven in any document we could find, so we do not show a running-cost figure for it. We are not going to estimate one from a similar model. Here is the method we would have used.

Small counters that still want 1,800 W

Ninja Digital Air Fryer & Toaster Oven, 8-in-1 flip-away (SP101)

Stores vertically
8.2/10

The one genuine answer to a small kitchen that does not involve giving up power. It flips vertically against the backsplash when you are done, which is a real solution to the only problem this category consistently creates.

Power

7
Value
8.5

What it gets right

  • Flipping up against the backsplash reclaims the counter without unplugging and lifting a 20-pound box into a cupboard
  • Full 1,800 W — the compromise is storage geometry, not power
  • Capacity is quoted as a 13-inch pizza and nine slices, both of which you can check against what you actually cook

What it doesn't

  • The flip-away design means a shallow single cooking level; there is no second rack position to gain
  • The hinge and the vertical stance are the whole product — if you were always going to leave it out, you are paying for a mechanism you will not use
  • No published interior volume, same as the rest of the Ninja line

What it costs to run

About 33.9¢ an hour at full draw, or $61.86 a year at 30 minutes a day, 365 days a year and 18.83¢ per kWh.

1,800 W ÷ 1000 × 182.5 h × 18.83¢ = $61.86

1800 W as published in SharkNinja's own SP101 quick start guide and brand listing copy. This is an upper bound: the elements cycle off once the cavity is at temperature, and no manufacturer publishes a duty cycle, so we compute at full rated draw rather than invent a correction factor. What it doesn't

What it gets right

  • BLACK+DECKER publishes 1,150 W and a two-year warranty for the Crisp 'N Bake air-fry line, which is more than most brands three times the price manage
  • 1,150 W is a real advantage on an older circuit shared with a kettle or a microwave
  • At this price the value question mostly answers itself

What it doesn't

  • 1,150 W means longer to preheat and longer to cook than an 1,800 W oven — cheaper per hour, not necessarily cheaper per meal
  • The published wattage is for the TO1785SG in the same line; we have not found a separate figure for this exact SKU, and we have not assumed they are identical
  • Four-slice capacity is genuinely small

How we picked

Ovens we claim to have cooked in: 0

Everyone in this category tells you they roasted forty chickens. We have roasted none, and we say so. Here is what we do instead: read the manufacturer's manual and spec sheet, record the published wattage, interior volume, temperature range and warranty term, work out what the oven costs to run for an hour and for a year, show the arithmetic so you can redo it with your own electricity rate, and cite all of it. Where a brand publishes no wattage, we print no running cost rather than borrowing a number from a similar model. Prices come live from Amazon's API and disappear rather than go stale.

The scores above are judgments from that documented research — not test results. One of the five metrics is Documentation: whether the manufacturer will tell you what its oven draws at all. The full rubric, including what disqualifies an oven, is published in full.

Questions

Frequently asked

Is an air fryer toaster oven better than a basket air fryer?
It depends on how you cook. A basket air fryer is a small cavity with a fast fan, so it heats quickly and does a small amount of food very well. An air fryer toaster oven is a larger cavity that also toasts and bakes a full tray, but it takes longer to come up to temperature. If you cook for one or two and want speed, the basket wins; if you cook on trays or want one appliance instead of two, the oven wins. We work through it in the full comparison.
Do I need to pay for a Breville, or is a cheaper oven fine?
Both draw the same 1,800 watts and cost the same to run. The Breville buys you independently driven elements, published specifications and build quality that lasts; the Ninja DT201 buys you more usable interior per dollar. If you bake seriously or keep appliances for a decade, the premium is defensible. If you mostly reheat and toast, it is not, and we say so on the Breville's own card.
Does air frying use a lot of electricity?
No — it uses less than your full-size oven for the same food, because it heats a much smaller cavity. At 1,800 watts an air fryer oven costs a few cents an hour to run. We did the arithmetic, with the sum shown so you can redo it with your own rate.
