How this site makes money

Coil & Convection is a participant in the Amazon Services LLC Associates Program, an affiliate advertising program designed to provide a means for sites to earn advertising fees by advertising and linking to Amazon.com. When you click a product link on this site and buy something, Amazon pays us a small commission. As an Amazon Associate we earn from qualifying purchases.

The commission comes out of Amazon's margin, not your pocket — you pay exactly the same price whether you arrive through our link or type the address yourself. This is the entire business model of the site, and it is why the site can exist without a paywall or display ads.

What the commission does not do

It does not decide our rankings, and it does not change what we say about a product. Our scoring rubric is published in full, including the five metrics and what disqualifies an oven. Where Amazon is cheaper than a brand's own store, we send you to Amazon; where a product has a real drawback, we say so on its own card in a “skip this if…” line. A recommendation we would not make without the commission is not a recommendation we make.

How the links work

Every product link on the site routes through a redirect at /go/that adds our Amazon Associates tag and sends you to the product. This lets us keep every link's destination in one place, so if a product moves or a better retailer becomes available, we change one configuration entry rather than rewriting pages. The redirect is not indexed by search engines and carries the appropriate rel attributes that Google requires for affiliate links.

How we handle prices

Prices are pulled live from Amazon's Product Advertising API and stamped with the date they were last checked. If our price data is more than 48 hours old, the number disappears and the button falls back to “Check price on Amazon” — we would rather show you nothing than a stale figure. We never type a price by hand, and Amazon's price at checkout is always the one that counts.

Other retailers

Amazon is our default retailer because it carries this category well and its pricing is transparent. If we ever add a link to another retailer's own store, it will be because it is genuinely better for you — a better price, better stock, a longer warranty — and we will say plainly whether we earn a commission there. We do not add tracking to a retailer we have no relationship with.
