Model Reviews

One machine per page, in full. These sit outside the category hubs on purpose — a Breville Smart Oven Air Fryer Pro is genuinely an air fryer toaster oven and a countertop convection oven, and filing it under one would be an arbitrary choice that splits the links two ways.

We earn a commission if you buy through our links. It does not change the price you pay, and it does not decide our picks — the scoring rubric is published in full, including what disqualifies an oven. How this works.

Breville Breville Smart Oven Air Fryer Pro (BOV900BSS)

Breville Smart Oven Air Fryer Pro (BOV900)

Our top pick: Breville Smart Oven Air Fryer Pro (BOV900BSS) The most completely documented oven in the category, and the only one at any price whose manufacturer publishes a rated wattage, an interior volume and a full element layout in the same place. You pay roughly four times the category floor for that, and about a third of the premium is the documentation itself.

One oven per page, in full

A roundup has to be brief about each pick because it is ranking ten of them. These pages are the opposite: every published specification we could find for a single machine, the running cost with its arithmetic beside it, what the manufacturer does and does not tell you, and a plain statement of who should not buy it.

They sit outside the category hubs deliberately. A Breville Smart Oven Air Fryer Pro is genuinely an air fryer toaster oven and a countertop convection oven; filing it under one of those would be an arbitrary choice that splits the internal links two ways and makes the page harder to find from either direction.

What a review here contains

The published wattage and where it came from — a rating plate in the manual is worth more than a number in listing copy, and we say which one we found. Interior volume, where the manufacturer publishes one. External dimensions, including depth, because depth is the dimension that determines whether it fits. Temperature range, function count, warranty term. Then the cost to run for an hour and for a year, computed from the wattage rather than asserted.

And then the gaps. If a brand does not publish a wattage, that is in the review, stated plainly, and the oven gets no running-cost figure rather than a borrowed one. It is remarkable how often the gaps are the most informative part: a three-hundred-dollar appliance whose manufacturer will not tell you what it draws has told you something about how it expects to be bought.

What a review here does not contain

Any claim about how the food came out. We have not cooked in these ovens. There is no test kitchen behind this site, no unit on a bench, and no photograph of a chicken we roasted — because there isn't one.

That is a real limitation and we would rather state it than disguise it. What we offer instead is the thing the hands-on reviews mostly skip: every number the manufacturer publishes, gathered in one place, cited to the document it came from, with the arithmetic done. You can check every line of it against primary sources, which is not true of “in our testing, the fries were crispier”.

Which reviews exist, and which do not

A model only gets a page here when two conditions hold: Amazon currently sells it under a resolvable listing, so the price on the page is live rather than remembered, and the manufacturer has published enough for the page to be worth reading. Where a model failed the second test we did not write a thin page about it — several intended reviews were dropped during this build for exactly that reason.

The scoring rubric is the same one used across the site, and one of its five metrics is Documentation: whether the brand publishes a wattage, a temperature range, interior dimensions and a warranty term at all. It is published in full, including what disqualifies an oven from being recommended.
